A brief correction from your resident HP super nerd regarding quidditch.

10 points for every quaffle you score. 150 if you catch the snitch which also ends the game. There are announcers and scoreboards at quidditch games so the players have some idea of what the score is before they catch the snitch. There is some strategy in catching the snitch as with the tournament play, specifically at Hogwarts, the points accumulated determine the winner of the quidditch cup so a seeker may want to catch the snitch only when their team is up by a certain amount to make sure they win by enough to secure themselves in the tournament. In book 4 during the quidditch world cup (not so evident in movie 4) the seeker for the team that is losing catches the snitch, ending the game with his team as the losers. The explanation for this is that he knew his chasers could never catch up in 10 point increments to the opposing team and he wanted to end the game on his terms by at least catching the snitch and avoiding an all out blow out.

Thank you for reading Cast Iron Balls HP edition.

Thank you for the clarification. Seekers with no faith in their teammates to mount a comeback should be fired into the sun.
